Squeaky Pedal are an award-winning heritage film, animation and TV production company. Working with museums, cultural institutions and broadcasters. Our work inspires, communicates and connects, whether that is a human interest story, a charity campaign, or uncovering forgotten history.

Squeaky Pedal were able to produce an absolutely splendid video that captured the essence of the service we were promoting. They really listened when edits were added and created the perfect video.

COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLBEING PROJECT LEAD

We’ve worked with Squeaky Pedal on a number of films now, for good reason. They fully understand our needs and produce high quality, engaging films. The Missing Pieces Project was no exception, with the team working flexibly to quite a tight deadline across multiple locations. Pete is a pleasure to work with, with a knack of putting people completely at ease in front of the cameras – and the results speak for themselves. We are absolutely delighted with the film.

It was a pleasure working with the team at Squeaky Pedal from briefing through to final delivery. They were quick to grasp what we were trying to achieve, and we were very impressed with the creativity and communication skills they demonstrated throughout the project.

Working with Squeaky Pedal during our 2022 festival was a fantastic experience. They handled the logistics of filming in multiple cities simultaneously with ease, and in so many different contexts (from historic houses and gardens to medieval sword fighting demonstrations and walking tours!). We had an immediate hurdle at the start of our project in that Her Majesty the Queen passed away the evening before our festival began, this meant that many filming locations had to pull out at the last minute.

The whole team worked so flexibly to ensure we still had the footage we needed and handled lots of last-minute changes in locations. It was great to work with a team who had an in-depth understanding of the heritage sector and the specific challenges of filming at certain types of historic locations. Despite last minute changes, they were incredible problem solvers and we ended up with such high-quality outputs that met the brief exactly and really showcased our festival community in the best possible way. We're already looking forward to working with them again!

From the limited brief that was shared with Squeaky Pedal, to what has been achieved in the final output, is better than I could've imagined and has exceeded my expectations in every way.

I've had the pleasure of working with Jason and Pete on creating and producing Secrets of the Lost Liners for Sky History. They bring a scholarly, analytical and intellectual flare combined with stylish, technical brilliance to each of their projects. Full of exciting and creative ideas, I look forward to working with them on more projects in the future.

Working with Squeaky Pedal was a wonderful experience. Their grass roots, honest, methodical and calm approach to planning and producing the Historic England film focused on the Middlesbrough HSHAZ was so reassuring. They are clearly so committed to telling the histories of a variety of places and brought an enthusiasm which was infectious.

Throughout the filming process it was clear that they were able to put everyone at ease and bring out a natural narrative which illustrated perfectly the story and work we wanted to showcase. We really are proud of the outcome they have produced for us and look forward to the next piece of work we'll be doing together.

CO-DIRECTOR OF NAVIGATOR NORTH

Collaborating with Squeaky Pedal on our film to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands War was a really enjoyable and rewarding experience. Pete and Jason effectively brought our vision to life and worked with us to mould our initial ideas into a really moving, aesthetic and well-structured film that has gone down so well with our audience. The team were always reliable and kept in touch with us throughout the whole process so that we got a clear sense of how the piece was coming together. We were particularly delighted with the animations that the team produced, which really brings our oral history collection to life.  It was incredibly valuable to work with two people who were so passionate and engaged with the story that we were trying to tell.

Simply wonderful to work with a company that can take a brief and just run with it. From the initial concept stages right through to the filming on event days production and editing, Squeaky Pedal were highly professional and yet very down to earth, friendly and adaptable to our needs.

As an arts charity with two events, we looked to create two films that not only showcased performances, but that would reflect the thoughts and feelings of the audiences, the artists involved and the impact that the festivals would have on the towns. With very little guidance at all, Squeaky Pedal identified what would work and went on to produce two exceptional mini films that will serve as a legacy to Cheshire Dance and its Now Northwich and Winsford Creates festivals.  The process was incredibly smooth – including risk assessments around drone footage, etc. – and the outcome was far beyond what we expected. Cheshire Dance would not hesitate to work with the Squeaky team again.

The Learning Team at the National Army Museum recently worked with Squeaky Pedal to produce a learning film for a school audience which showcased the museum's handling collection. From the outset, Jason and Pete displayed great enthusiasm for the project, which was evident in their considered and attentive approach throughout both planning and execution. The Learning Team would be delighted to work with Squeaky Pedal again on any upcoming filming projects.

LEARNING PRODUCER, NATIONAL ARMY MUSEUM

The flexible and innovative approach of Squeaky Pedal delivered impressive timelapse videography of an iconic town centre mural to create short films, also capturing vox pops from the public. They are super friendly and approachable, responded to short timescales for proposal, planning and production and delivered above and beyond. The complementary creative skills within the team meant they were also able to produce musical soundtracks for the films. Squeaky Pedal were safe hands to steer the creative direction of the project and deliver exactly what we needed, and we are really pleased with the films they created.

CULTURAL ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, CHESHIRE EAST COUNCIL

Squeaky Pedal were fantastic to work with throughout the film making process. Their approach was creative and imaginative whilst also understanding of our requirements. They were very much focused on engaging the audience and utilised effective storytelling to convey our key messages. We found them committed to creating high quality films which showcased the best of our venues and collections. They spent time to ensure they had all the material needed and provide them with lots of options in the edit. They completed all filming and editing in the specified timescale which we knew was a tight turnaround. The final films were provided in a range of formats to give us flexibility in distribution.

We were extremely happy with the final films and would recommend working with them to anyone.

PROJECT OFFICER, EXPLORING ELIOT

It’s been a pleasure working with Squeaky Pedal. They produced 7 short films featuring 4 historic sites over a few months, and we have shared their films with some of our filmmakers in other areas as examples of what they should be aiming for.

As Squeaky Pedal’s films required so little editing work, they were prompt to turn edits around, and they ensured factual/historical accuracy before submission, theirs are the first films from this case studies project that we’ve been able to put live on our site. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for other projects, and have already done so internally at Historic England.

Georgina Anderson

CONTENT OFFICER, HISTORIC ENGLAND

From the first pitch for the contract to the final delivery it was clear we were in safe hands and despite the unprecedented restraints last year, Squeaky Pedal more than delivered the goods. The quietly confident style of the company, innovative and open to ideas and communicating well throughout, resulted in a video that was creative, entertaining, delivered the message, was on time and budget and had a delightful sound track . It was such a pleasure to work with this company and feel confident throughout the process.

From the moment we received Squeaky Pedal's application, we knew that their collaborative, creative approach was exactly what we were looking for. They created an impressive range of digital assets in an extremely tight timescale, with a warm and friendly manner that engaged even the most camera shy of our volunteers. Highly recommended!

We are so pleased with the films that Squeaky Pedal produced to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The accounts of men and women who experienced this extraordinary period of history were handled sensitively and thoughtfully, and the accompanying images and striking animations help us to share their experiences with today’s audiences. Your passion for bringing stories to life, combined with your professionalism, makes you a pleasure to work with and we can highly recommend Squeaky Pedal to others who are thinking of film projects. Thank you!

I congratulate the film makers on ‘This Little Chicken & The Victoria Cross’ in tackling a subject which was never filmed. Their brave and imaginative use of multiple forms of media brought a compelling and fascinating story to life – winning the ‘Best Use of Archive Award’ at the Imperial War Museum Film Festival.

- Richard Melman

We have been able to use the film with great effect to raise awareness of the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War and also the important role of the Cathedral in providing a service to the community on such significant occasions.

Finding Wee Paddy is the most remarkable of World War II stories, something you haven’t heard before. It’s about love, memory and most of all, family.

Squeaky Pedal filmed our charity 10K race in Victoria Park, London. They were an absolute pleasure to work with; great at giving suggestions when speaking to the camera in a really nice way so you didn’t feel so self-conscious, very professional and endeavoured to make a great quality film. We will certainly be working with him again in near the future.
